1) A really very nice as found untouched service dress jacket to an RAF observer to a Flight Lieutenant. The jacket is in pretty good order but does show age dirt overall from its service life, much of this would wash off with care. There are quite a few moth nips all of which are shown in the photos and nothing that stands out massively when on display (see photos) there is a small period repair to the lower left pocket and an even smaller one to the lower right (see photos). the jacket shows wear from its service life to the small watch pocket opening, it has also had a period done repair to the left sleeve cuff where a nice piece of blue suede has been neatly added, this is properly done and does not stand out (see photos).
All original buttons are in place and have seen much polishing during service, one lower pocket flap button is missing. The insignia is in lovely order and all original to the jacket, the observers brevet is a lovely padded example with nice oatmeal colouring to the wings, the medal ribbons are for 39-45 star, Defence & War medals. The inside lining is good but again shows wear to the armpits and lower edge. Unfortunately, the tailors label has long since been removed from the collar and no owners’ details are visible. It has some later pen size marking to the inside collar.
Jacket measurements are Shoulder seam to Shoulder seam 16 ½ inches, Shoulder to Cuff 24 inches, Armpit to Armpit 18 inches, Total length Collar to Hem 29 inches.
