150) A very nice early WW2 RAF aircraft escape axe. This is the earliest that we have ever had being dated 1938. The rubber grips are good with just age related wear, marks and slight cuts. the head is again good. it shows the remnants f ancient paint to it along with minor surface rust but would clean up nicely. the cutting edge is good and not worn. the rear spike has a slight bent to the tip. this could easily be sorted out. the back edge shows minor dents where someone has used it as a hammer. the markings are not perfectly stamps but are good and better than seem in the photos. it is AM & crown marked with Ref number and 1938 date!
