2 A nice original Spanish Z42 helmet, this pattern was produced after the Spanish civil war as a loose copy of the German M-42 helmet mixed with earlier versions of Spanish helmets, apparently produced from early 1943 onwards. This is the early pattern with all leather liner and leather chinstrap, the later version had a part canvas and leather liner which was far different, we are not sure at what date the liner system changed? The helmet is in excellent original condition, the paintwork is all good and original factory done but does have an ancient oily colored drip line where something has dripped on one side and run down it before setting, clearly done long ago it does not really affect the helmet, it may be possible to remove but we have not tried. The chinstrap leather is in excellent condition and never used, the leather liner and band are again in good order and look to have never been used or touched, the felt underpadding is in place but does show ancient dead moth damage. There is one small area of surface rust to the right inside skirt, this is only minor and would clean up if polished. A nice clean early example.
