47) An extremely nice original WW1 British army officers No25 trench periscope with correct handle and fitted case. The leather case is in lovely order, all leather soft and supple. It shows some minor age related marks and stains and the opening shows edge wear from the periscope being put in and taken out. The closure strap shows surface cracks but is good and strong. The original leather carry strap is in place and good with surface cracks and marks but all good and strong. It has a neat cup and strap fitting to hold the handle in place. The inside of the case is beautifully lined in maroon velvet type material. The scope its self is in amazing condition and retains all original outer green paintwork. It still even has its original eye cup which is rare in its self. The extension works nicely and the optics are excellent with no damage but do show minor dirt (These things are pretty simple to clean). The focus works well and when looking through the lenses internal graticules can be seen. The original handle is in place and excellent. It is maker marked and dated 1918. A really exceptionally nice item.
