60) A very nice original mid to late WW2 RAF C-Type flying helmet complete with original receivers and wiring loom. This is the 2nd pattern c-Type which came out mid war and changed in 1945 for the 3rd pattern. It is marked with the RAF ref no 22C/879 size 3 which is a medium size but seems to be more like a size 2?. The outer leather is mostly good but it does have wear and splitting along the brow where someone has tried to force it onto their head which has torn the leather to the left and right of the brow and now has 2 fair size holes to the leather outer. It looks a little crumpled and shows minor surface wear and flaking to the top and rear of the head which should polish out?. The poppers and straps are all excellent. The RAF stores ref can be seen as well as A crown M. (see photos). The chinstrap is good with minor dirt. The chamois lining is excellent with minor marks and stains. The receiver cups are again soft and supple and the receivers are in nice order. The wiring loom is all original period fitted and looks in great condition as does the large jack plug. It is sold untested and in need of some attaention.
