51) A very good original WW1 US Army P17 bayonet and scabbard. By no means perfect but in good used condition. The pommel and cross guard are show minor wear and ancient surface rust. The release catch works fine. The grips are in lovely condition. The blade shows very minor sharpening, a slightly round tip and tiny edge knocks along the cutting edge. The markings are not the best stamped or clearest. The US ordnance mark is clear. The 1917 is clear but the maker is not clearly stamped. looks to be a round marking so probably Remington. The scabbard is a little tatty and worn. The metal fittings show ancient light surface rust and both show knocks and dents. The bottom rear staple is broken but still seems firm. The rear US belt hooks have been removed so it was probably worn with a frog by the Home Guard or similar. The leather is pretty good with some original green finish but does show wear, marks and dirt.
