9) A good original early war fire man’s axe. The wooden grips are excellent, the head firmly in place with no wobble. There is the remnants of a service number stamped inside the wood but no longer readable. The head is excellent with just minor surface rust. It is nicely marked “LONDON. AFS. 5740”. The AFS isn’t the best stamping but all original and can be clearly seen. This seems to be the case with most of the London AFS marked axes. A nice item of pre 1941 issue.
