93) Good Used WW2 US Army M-43 Folding Shovel & Cover 1945

Description

93) A good original WW2 US army folding shovel and cover. the shovel is in good used condition. the woodwork is excellent but has lost most of its original od green paintwork with just traces left. the head is good, the back shows surface rust and slight pitting and is greasy so could do with a clean, the front retains much original paintwork. someone has sanded one area to show the markings, US along with makers mark and 1945 date (see photos). the hand nut shows wear but screws tight well. the blade edge shows minor knocks. the cover is the type with 3 rear belt adjustment positions. the outside is good and fairly clean. it has several period done repairs along the back of the flap. the inside of the flap shows some ancient rust from the shovel, much of which may brush off. it is maker marked and dated 1945.
