A very nice original early leather pistol holster. This is a large size for a substantial pistol and mostly likely Boer War possibly WW1 but no later. The holster is in good order, the shape of the pistol which was once in this can clearly be seen where the trigger guard and cylinder have left their impression/shape to the outside. The leather is again of an early light brown colour very much the colour of the Boer War era Sam Brown. The leather is soft and supple and all looks to be in good order, there are age related scratches and marks and very minor surface cracks in places. The measurements of the gun that was once in it can easily be measured as the outline is so clear, the barrel was around 6 ¼ inches long, the cylinder was 2 inches in height, the widest part of the pistol from trigger guard to the rear of the gun was 4 ½ inches. Presumably an early .455 service revolver. It has no visible markings.
