A very well made small knapsack, this looks to be an early post war made bag from various military surplus items. The main bag is of canvas and excellent, when looking inside it is clear to see that parts are made from a US medical roll as the outline of medical instruments can be partially seen, also the underside of the lid reads “No5 Sponge, Forceps & Clamp”, the front pouches are nicely trimmed with leather the closure straps are clearly wartime German dimpled leather and removed from some sort of equipment, they are a little tatty and some stitching is loose but strong and could do with a good polish, the buckle sections are civilian made. The rear straps are again clearly US web sections with added leather ends and buckles. An interesting item of post war economy.
